Special Note: Below is the current outline for the FAQ page. There are no hyperlinks set up yet so those will have to be added to the blue text. And the idea is that when a user scrolls over any of these questions the text will change color and if they click the answer will drop drop...clicking the questions again the answer will pop up...

What is Sitesearch?

Sitesearch is a social bookmarking and networking website. It is a place for people to discover and share information from all over the web with one another. Everything submitted to Sitesearch is from our users – all the news, videos, images and antics creating an online social media community. It was developed to create relevance from the mass of information available on the web.

So have fun! Submit links, rank, bookmark, comment and email. It’s all about discovering and sharing new information.

Using Sitesearch

  1. How do I sign up for an account?
  2. How do I submit a link?
    • In the upper right hand corner of the front page you will find a section titled, submit a link now. Simply copy and paste the URL into that space and click submit. Your link will appear on the recent links page and will also be saved in your bookmarks. Submit a link now can also be found on the account page.

  3. How do I rank a link?
    • Throughout the site you will find a thumbs up / thumbs down ranking system. If you like a link, give it a thumbs up rank. If it’s not so hot, give it a thumbs down rank.

  4. How do I bookmark a link?
    • Click the bookmark button and then customize your tag so you can find the article later.

  5. How do I comment on a link?
    • You can comment on any link in Sitesearch by clicking on the comment button.

  6. How do I email a link?
    • You can email a link by clicking the email button. You will then have the option to send it to friends within Sitesearch, import contacts from other address books, or type in the address manually.

  7. How do I find links that are submitted, ranked, commented and bookmarked by other Sitesearchers?
    • When a user takes action on any item in Sitesearch it is automatically bookmarked and stored in their profile. You can access your friends’ activities from your account page, which posts all of your friends’ recent activities. You can visit the profile of any user by clicking on their profile image, searching for them, or by manually entering their URL: www.sitesearch.com/username.

Profile

  1. How do I add photos and videos to my profile?
    • Both the profile and account pages have a control panel on the left hand side with both a photo and video button to add your content. Simply browse and upload your photo…and for the video just copy and paste the URL and hit submit.

  2. How do I upload a profile image?
    • On the account page there is an edit button next to the profile image, click this and upload your profile image. There is also the option to choose your profile image on the photo page located in the control panel.

  3. How do I add my personal information?
    • There is an edit feature on the profile page, click this and add/edit your personal information. Any section that is not filled out will not show.

  4. How do I add bookmarks and tags?
    • When you submit or bookmark a link you will automatically be saving it so you can access it later. At that time you will also be asked to add tags to the bookmarks which will help better categorize the bookmark.

  5. How do I comment?
    • You can comment on your friends profile page by typing in the comment box and clicking post.

  6. How do I message friends?
    • You can message friends by accessing the message button in the control panel and choosing from your list of friends or you can reply to a friend that has left a comment from the message link in the comments section of your profile.

Account

  1. How do I change my email address?
    • You can change your email address under personal settings which can be accessed from the settings button in the control panel found on both the profile and account pages.

  2. How do I change my Sitesearch username?
    • Make sure you choose your username wisely! Your username will be your ID throughout the site and will also be used as your URL. So make sure it is something you can live with.

  3. What is my display name?
    • Your display is what will be shown on your profile page and can be changed at any point in time.

  4. How do I delete my Sitesearch account?
    • If you would like to delete your account from Sitesearch, please email us at support@sitesearch.com from the email address that is associated with your account. We will be sad to you go though.

  5. Why has my account and all of my history been deleted?
    • If your account has been deleted with all of your history, chances are you violated our Terms of Use. We have this in place to preserve our site and for the benefit of our users. Some examples of violations are submitting pornography, spamming, slanderous writings, and other severe abuses. If you feel your account was deleted in error, please contact us at support@sitesearch.com.

Social Bookmarking

  1. What is social bookmarking?
    • Sitesearch is a social bookmarking site which enables users to store information online rather than in their web browser. This method of storing information gives the user freedom to access their bookmarks and saved information from anywhere. When this is applied to a social network, it creates a community that discovers shares and discusses information with one another.

  2. What are the advantages of social bookmarking?
    • Your information is saved within a website instead of a browser and can be accessed from anywhere – home, work, a friend’s computer, an internet café, etc. Giving you more freedom. Any link you bookmark and tag can be shared publicly through Sitesearch, so your friends, coworkers, and other users can view them for entertainment, collaboration, reference or anything else.

  3. How do I bookmark in Sitesearch?
    • It’s easy, just submit a link or bookmark a previously submitted link in Sitesearch. The link will then be bookmarked on your profile and account pages.

  4. Where are my bookmarks within Sitesearch?
    • Your bookmarks are kept within your account and profile pages. This allows you to access them easily and for others to view them.

  5. Can I edit these bookmarks?
    • Of course! You always have the ability to edit and delete your bookmarks within Sitesearch. You can access these function on your account and profile pages.

  6. Can anyone see my bookmarks?
    • Yes, bookmarks are meant to be public information but we have also built a privacy setting into our system. This will allow you to choose which bookmarks you would like to share and which you would like to keep for your eyes only. The purpose of being able to view other user’s bookmarks is to discover and share information and add it to your collection.

Tags

  1. What are tags?
    • Tags can be thought of as keywords or categories that you would use to describe a link you saved in your bookmarks on Sitesearch in order to find it later.

  2. How do tags work?
    • If you find an interesting link on Sitesearch that you may want to save for later you can tag it with a keyword or category that describes it. It will then be bookmarked and saved in your account and profile pages under that keyword. It may also help to think of tagging as a virtual filing cabinet.

  3. 3. How do I tag?
    • When you submit a link, edit an existing link, or save a new link in your bookmarks, there is a field titled tags. In this field you can enter as many or as few tags as you like to describe the bookmark. The only limitation with tags is to remember to place a comma between each tag descriptor for the link you are posting.
